It’s a marriage made in hell.
The son of Osama bin Laden has tied the knot with the daughter of the lead hijacker in the 9/11 terror attacks, his family told the UK’s Guardian.
The 9/11 mastermind’s half-brothers Ahmad and Hassan al-Attas mentioned the nuptials of 29-year-old Hamza bin Laden, who has assumed a senior position in al Qaeda.
“We have heard he has married the daughter of Mohammed Atta,” Ahmad told the paper, referring to the terrorist who piloted hijacked American Airlines Flight 11, which slammed into the Twin Towers.
“We’re not sure where he is, but it could be Afghanistan,” he added.
Hamza is the son of one of bin Laden’s three surviving wives, Khairiah Sabar, who was living with her husband near a Pakistani military base when he was killed by US Navy SEALs seven years ago.
Seeking to avenge his father’s death, Hamza — who is considered the deputy to al Qaeda’s current leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri — has urged followers to wage war on Washington, London, Paris and Tel Aviv.
His marriage to Atta’s daughter appears to confirm that al Qaeda continues to be organized around his father’s legacy, according to the news outlet.
The senior bin Laden’s wives and children have returned to Saudi Arabia, where former crown prince Mohammed bin Nayef has given them refuge.
They remain in close contact with bin Laden’s mother, Alia Ghanem, who told the Guardian that she has kept in touch with surviving family members.
“When we thought everyone was over this, next thing I knew was Hamza saying I am going to avenge my father,” said Hassan al-Attas. “I don’t want to go through that again.
“If Hamza was in front of me now, I would tell him, ‘God guide you. Think twice about what you are doing. Don’t retake the steps of your father. You are entering really negative and horrible parts of your soul.’”
In January 2017, the US labeled Hamza a specially designated global terrorist — meaning his assets could be blocked and anyone who deals with him faces arrest.
